Preface
I built this for the people in my life I love most — my mum, my partner, the friends I've known for twenty years. Each of them carries a hundred stories I've heard in fragments and a thousand more I've never thought to ask about. There's never a good moment to sit down and pull on the thread.
So I built the thing I wanted: a friendly bot that asks one warm question a week on WhatsApp, in their own time, on their own phone. A year from now I'll be holding a hardback book of someone's life in their own words.

Chapter I — How It Begins

Each week, we send them one warm question on WhatsApp. Saturdays at 10:00, when most people have a quiet morning.

They reply however suits them — a typed sentence, a five-minute voice note, a forwarded photograph. The bot is patient and warm.
iii.
After 12 or 26 weeks, we turn their answers into a book of their life in their own words. You read it, change anything you like and approve it, then it is printed and posted within 10 to 14 working days.

Who writes the book?
- A.They do, in their own words. We use AI with zero-retention providers to tidy and arrange their answers into chapters, and you can read and edit every story before you approve the book.

When does the book arrive?
- A.After the 12 or 26 weeks, you review and approve the book, then it is printed and posted within 10 to 14 working days. Shipping in the UK is free.

Do they need to install anything?
- A.No app, just WhatsApp. Their first message asks if they'd like to take part, and nothing more is sent unless they say yes. They can reply STOP at any time and we won't message them again.

Who's the recipient — does it have to be a parent?
- A.No. The most common gift is for a parent, but our test storytellers include grandparents, partners, and a couple of long-time best friends. Anyone whose stories you want to read.

What if they don't use WhatsApp much?
- A.That's most of our test users. Voice notes work just as well as typing, and the bot is patient. If they can text "happy birthday", they can do this.
